Losing Weight is a Journey That Starts With One Step

For most people, losing weight may be a lifelong battle. There are many reasons for this. Occasionally people must take medicine for another ailment or disorder which causes an increase in hunger. Or the medication may influence the individual's metabolism, slowing it down. These reasons can lead to weight loss. Other men and women suffer from emotional problems with food that can cause weight loss hopeless without counselling. All these people today turn to food for comfort or to fill an emotional void. In this case, eating is just a substitute for something else. Food can never fill this void so the person proceeds to eat at the hopes of filling this unfulfilled void. Both these situations may lead to weight gain and even to obesity.

But, there are a few straightforward things you can do to assist with your weight loss. The first is to not diet. That is correct, do not diet! A diet is simply a short-term process which is meant for a rapid weight loss. Nevertheless, this can not be sustained and after the diet is over, the person generally increases back all of their weight and much more! Rather than diet, you have to approach weight loss as a lifestyle change. A lifestyle change implies that this can be a long term process which takes some time to execute but will have past effects. I have two buddies who illustrate both things. The very first, we'll call"Lily." Lily went to L.A. Weight Loss and paid her charges for the 12 week schedule. She stuck to her diet and she lose 21 pounds! Great! However, after she completed her three-week program, she didn't return. Gradually, the pounds came back and today, Lily is fatter than she was before she moved on her diet. Contrast that with our next instance. He'd have two or one with lunch, one for an afternoon"pick-me-up", and one or two with dinner. (You are going to need a significant calculator to add up all those"empty" calories!) Thus, to begin living a healthy life, Doug decided on a lifestyle shift. He instead drinks unsweetened teas and water. After six months, Doug has lost (and maintained his weight loss) 50 pounds. Plushe claims to have more energy than ever !

If your weigh benefit is a result of medical reasons such as drugs that increase hunger or reduce metabolism, then talk with your physician about it. There are dozens and dozens of new drugs that come to market every year and there could possibly be an alternative that does not have this unwanted side-effect. Or maybe, your doctor could adjust the dose of your medication to help reduce these cravings for meals or decrease in metabolism.

So, as you can see, weight loss requires an entirely new mindset. If you require medication, speak to your doctor about altering or reducing your medication. If you have to eliminate specific foods from your diet, select one and start there. Just remember, the longest journey starts with one measure. Weight loss, and permanent weight loss, is definitely a journey worth taking.
